Hi!
I’m Katerina, a VFX artist with a passion for art that tells a story—and I believe that visual effects are the perfect way to that! One of the most exciting things to me when beginning work on an effect is getting as much of the backstory on it as possible. Does it go ker-swoosh-swizzle because the magic began deteriorating? Does the smoke have a slight sheen to it because an ethereal entity has touched it? This way I can begin creating an effect with substance and story, and creating a story to go with it is just as exciting to me as creating the effect itself.
What first drew me to visual effects was the different aspects of game-making that went into it: modeling, creating textures, animation, color theory, etc. As someone who loves game development in general, that was very exciting for me because it meant I could hone my skills in many aspects of game development and always be learning something new.
Outside of work I love reading, painting with watercolors, making pixel art, eating too much chocolate ice-cream, and exploring the outdoors. I believe beauty in nature can be found in anything, and, having been inspired by Joseph Gilland’s “Elemental Magic”, love finding patterns in nature.
